Do you want to get that retro 1950s look but don’t want to invest heavily? These catseye sunglasses are in the latest Warehouse mailer and are only $9.99. I don’t imagine they will be very good quality, but I’ll pop along this week and check them out and report back. For that price, they could be a fun way to get a fresh look for summer. They don’t look too pointy as well so should suit a variety of face shapes.
They aren’t on the Warehouse online store site, so you’ll need to stop at the brick and mortar store to pick up a pair (they have wedges on sale at the moment as well, so you could pick up a cheapy pair of shoes too while you’re there!).
If you are after a higher quality pair of sunglasses, check out my post here for designer cateye sunglasses.
Read MoreRetro oversized sunglasses hide many sins, but vintage-inspired cat-eye sunglasses give you a cool retro look. My grandmother always wore them, I’ll have to dig out a photo of her as she looked great! The queen of the retro look, Dita von Teese has been seen wandering around in a red pair of cat-eyes so they must be cool, right? See her here.
Ex-Gucci designer Tom Ford does a very authentic pair that comes in black, white and tortoiseshell. Get the white ones and you’d soon be looking like a Pink Lady! Not surprisingly they are an ‘investment piece’ as quite costly at $346.

Some of the modern versions are a bit bigger and a bit less pointy than the originals but this makes them a softer look. These 1950s-inspired D&G sunglasses come in a big range of colours. This is the ‘Havana’ but they come in black, red, turquoise, yellow, spotted emerald, spotted violet, and spotted grey. They come with a big D&G case and a lens kit.

Read MoreMax has a new ad out and it has a real vintage vibe to it. It starts with a pretty grey lace 1960s-inspired dress, has the whole big sunglasses and head-scarf Audrey look, has a sexy secretary and then a fun 60s colourblock dress. Lots of cute looks if you are looking for something new but vintage-inspired.
Samsonite reissued its fab Fashionaire range of luggage. I have travelled many 10s of thousands of kilometres with my Samonsite luggage so I can recommend the brand – in fact my only complaint is that my suitcase is so good, I have no reason to upgrade!
They have reissued their Fashionaire luggage collection, which was first seen in airports in 1968. There are some updates, the suitcases and cabin luggage include ‘spinner’ type suitcases, with the four wheels. I have this type of suitcase and I can’t recommend it enough. You can pull it, you can push it ahead of you, it is so much easier to haul about. It is the only luggage I would travel with now. It comes in black or purple.
This purple range can be viewed here, and the black range can be viewed here - they start at $226 (a $38 discount).
Read MoreSpring is just around the corner, so time to think about Spring/Summer fashion – yay! I can’t live without big sunglasses and usually invest in them as then I take care of them. My last pair lasted me 7 years! Nothing can make you look better than a pair of big Jackie O sunglasses – hangover? No problem! Not enough sleep? No one will know! No time for a shower? Pop a pair of these on, a little lip gloss and a hat and you’ll pass.
I’ve been searching online for my next pair – I found SmartBuy Glasses where they conveniently have an overrsized sunglasses category. I’ve have a pair of Burberry sunglasses and have been so happy with their quality, they fit so well – so far they have lasted me 3 years, and are still fabulous, and there’s a few here I like. Mine now are quite flashy so I’d like a more understated pair.
This pair of Burberry Jackie O oversized sunglasses have a bit less silver hardware than my current pair – and they are 25% off at the moment. They have a Miami feel to them – this pair’s colour is called ‘dark Havana’ as it is a dark tortoiseshell. I think I need them!
If you want a simpler black pair (and a bit cheaper), they also have these great big black Polaroid sunglasses which are 45% off. They come with a case, lens cloth and a free $35 lens kit.
The fog is clearing, Spring is on its way! Time to search for some big sunglasses to see you through this summer (and hopefully the next seven!).
Don’t these sandals just say summer in the 1970s – I love them! Thinking about getting the orange and pink number myself. They are leather and on sale for just $39 at the Buy Invite website – you’ll need an invite to access it, so just leave a comment below and I’ll send one through.
