A friend sent through a link to this blog post about this wonderful vintage-styled wedding photographed by Dan O’Day . I love everything about it! The tea-length wedding dress with the birdcage veil and the colourful shoes, is a great look! And what a great idea with the bridesmaids all being in some kind of blue and all in the same style of dress but in completely different fabrics. Usually it’s the other way around with them being in the same fabric but different styles. And the couple just look super-cool, like someone you want to be friends with.
There are some places to search for tea-length dresses – you can try the beautiful dresses of Pixie Pocket down in Christchurch, who makes to order. You could try Bella Vintage for the real deal – she imports vintage dresses from the US.
If you are in a hurry and want a bargain, you could try Unique Vintage in the US, who post internationally – you could find your all your bridal party’s dresses in one place. They also take returns, which is a great if you are a bit nervous about ordering online.
There are some beautiful tea-length dresses, that don’t have to cost you a fortune. This is simple but stunning ivory sateen cotton tea-length swing dress is only US$110:
And this tea-length wedding dress has a skirt covered in rose appliques – and it is on sale down from over US$300!
This one costs quite a bit more – but isn’t it perfect? I love the little belt and the boat neckline:
And for even more, you could have a custom-made silk tea-length wedding dress - beautiful!
And to complete the look, you need a Birdcage veil…
…and a white 1950s crinoline petticoat:
It’s almost enough to make me want to get married again…almost! I don’t think the American would appreciate a second wedding together!
